Strawberry Rhubarb topping.

250 gr strawberries

200 g ( about 3 stalks ) rhubarb,

1/2 cup caster sugar

  1. Cut the tops off the strawberries then cut the strawberry in half.
  2. Cut the rhubarb into small pieces of about 2 cm long.
  3. Place a medium saucepan onto the stove.
  4. Put into this saucepan the sugar, strawberries and rhubarb.
  5. Turn the stove on to a low heat.
  6. Stir the mixture until the sugar has dissolved.
  7. Turn the heat now to a medium – so that the mixture is bubbling gently – for about 10  minutes.  This mixture should have thickened by now.
  8. Wait for the mixture to cool before you place it on the table as the mixtures cooking heat will burn
