Hazelwood and Churchill (Victoria, Australia) local Girl Guide information noticeboard.

Crossing the Ice

Form players up in relay formation.

In front of each team layout the icebergs – pieces of paper ranging in size from 1/2 newsprint to half A4.

Some should be short steps, some should be long ones. (Don’t require too much of a jump if playing indoors as the paper might slip. Larger jumps can be used outdoors).

On signal, players race across the icebergs from their ship to the Labrador shore.

When the first player gets across, she waves for the second to try.

The first team across is the winner.

If any player touches the ‘water’, she has to go back and start again.
