Ginger Biscuits


12 oz Flour

4 ox Butter

2 oz brown sugar

8 oz treacle of golden syrup

1 egg

1 level tsp bicarbonate of soda

2 tsp ground ginger

1/4 pint milk

pinch of salt

Melt butter, treacle and sugar together in a saucepan and allow to cool.

Stir the flour, salt and spice into the bowl.

Make a well in the centre, add the treacle mixture and egg, nearly all the milk and add to the  mixture. Mix till combined and mixture is smooth.

Pour into an 8 inch square tin ands bake in the slow set oven at 300 deg Fahrenheit for 1 hour.
