C.F.A Come on down to Guides.

When planning 2009 Tuesday program the girls decided to invite the CFA people to Guides. Little knowing that every one here would be so affected by the near by fires over the last two weeks.

Here are some of the pictures of the CFA ladies who came to our Girl Guide meeting today. And we did not scare them off…. so they are coming back too.

Baw Baw Region Hazelwood and Churchill Girl Guide District Report 1st Quarter 2010

G:\PUBLISH\GIRL GUIDES LOGO\High Res Jpg\VIC\Copy of GGV Logo Plain.tifBaw Baw Region
Hazelwood and Churchill Girl Guide
 District Report 1st Quarter 2010
In order to submit a Region Report to the state team by the required date please submit this report at end of each term .
It should be emailed to jane.cleverly@bigpond.com
Your report may be edited to comply with space restrictions, however, please feel free to include as much detail as you want.
Please report on the following areas for your District over the past three months
1.         Promotional Events Held / Links with the local community
Getting out and about with the Guides. AMulticultural festival Mowell and Churchill library.
Have opened a District Face book page to keep in touch with some parents…those with internet access.  Early indications seem to be working.
Spoke at the Churchill And District Community Association re the Hazelwood Honor Roll and its condidtion (very Good condition) and put minds at ease re the care that the Hazelwood And Churchill Guides are giving this board.  There had been an untrue report of damage to this board. The RSL are satisfied with the Board staying in the Hazelwood South Hall… not going to the Churchill Public hall.
Asked to attend the Churchill Festival APRIL 17TH THIS YEAR. Altered date from March 2010.
Have been asked for the Guides to conduct a survey of the local children … what do they want from the local ‘Walker’ street park by the local walker street park group.
2.         Property Issues
3.         Leader Qualifications
4.         New initiatives / successes in your District
Patrol activities seem to be revitilizing the Unit.
5.         Issues you would like taken to the notice of Girl Guides Victoria management
Samar Ishaq has moved to Melbourne. Samar is having trouble contacting the / receiving a reply from the people in Melbourne. When I go down next I will make appropriate enquires as to what is happening but would like to receive some help first.  Not known by me yet who she is trying to contact but apparently every time Samar phones the lady at home the husband only answers.  Messages are not getting through and direct contact is not being got.
6.         Issues you would like to discuss at the Region Meeting
What is happening to the Uniforms.  We have not pushed the getting of one as we were believing that there would be the new ones 2010.  So currently our Guides do not have them. What do we do for ANZAC day?
7.         Professional Development you feel you would like

Face painting. as a service to the community

Face painting is a removable body art form.  As a service to the community people and organisations may ask if there are people available through this district who have this art.

Donations are acceptable.  Donation monies to be banked through the treasurer of the District.  Unless specified the Monies go to where the District Leader and Team think is most appropriate.

Guides Honor.

* The Hazelwood (and later the Churchill) Girl Guide District were honored to be the Hazelwood Honor Boards guardians. This understanding still remains unless the District formally closed down according to Girl Guides Australia Guide Lines. This being the case previsions have already been set in District Leader minutes. Until this time and should this unforneit turn of events occur the leas on the Hazelwood South Hall would be forfitted and the Hazelwood Honor Board would find another home in Hazelwood. This was the orginal understanding, the way it remained for over fifty years and the way the Hazelwood Honor Board will be housed in the future.

2010 Calendar to be supplied to others

Kira also suggested why not invite others in the Region to come to these meetings.  At least supply them with the calendar.  If it is forwarded to you will you let them know your opinion on what they want to do. My reply to this was I think that as a Cluster rep Danielle should get a copy, along with the Quarterly Cluster census’s.

The Region Leader used to have supplied to her from the District Leaders a monthly paper re activities, service, events that the District and Units were participating in. i have asked Jane (the Region Leader)  if she still uses this information sheet.

Heart Week and JRFHeart

When organising activities and events it is good to sometimes have the events, activites and services aligned with other organisisations and their service to community sections.

So I asked Mary-Lou from Jump Rope for Heart the following Question:

……..  When is national heart week?  This may have some bearing on time /date factor
